Description: Friday, April 4, 2014 at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30 pm Exploring the Red Planet Join us as we travel to Mars with the robotic missions and explore, making new discoveries about our neighboring planet. What have we learned? How can we locate and see Mars in our sky? Presentation in fulldome using Digistar 5 and created at Georgia Southern University, Department of Physics. Mars will be at opposition this month and making its closest approach to Earth, perfect for viewing through our telescopes later in the night, weather permitting. Free event for all ages. All planetarium events are sponsored by the Department of Physics within the College of Science and Mathematics at Georgia Southern University. Parking: in the open-gated faculty/staff parking lot with left turn at the end of Herty Drive from Fair Rd/GAHwy 67. The planetarium is on the other side of the parking gates in the Math/Physics Bldg between the Eidson House and the old Biology Bldg. Please arrive early for desired show time and enter the building into the planetarium lobby. If weather permits, telescopic observing of Jupiter, the Moon, and more outdoors.
