Description: Alzheimer's Association Caregiver Support Group meeting topic: "Improving Communication with Dementia Patients". Ideas for dealing with repetitive speech/actions, inappropriate use of words, inability to understand written or oral instructions, word substitution, and lack of word recall due to physical changes in the chemistry of the brain will be shared. The group is facilitated by a former caregiver and a volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association. The facilitator is not a speech/language therapist or a medical provider.
