| Description: | Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Center: Providing comprehensive services to sexual assault victims and their families. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in the United States. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. This April, the 2012 Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) campaign centers on promoting healthy sexuality to prevent sexual violence. During National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Center, hopes to “see” lots of people changing their Facebook profile photos to a “It’s Time” Photo sponsored by The Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Center. Thursday, March 22 from 5:30PM-7:00PM and Saturday, March 24 from 10:00AM-2:00PM the Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Center will be having free photo shoots for the Facebook Sexual Awareness Campaign. Anyone who wants to participate and change their Facebook profile pictures to one of them holding a clock is invited to join us. They can stop by the office and we will take the picture for them. Everyone is welcome! The clock represents the “it’s time” in “It’s Time to Talk about it”. There Comes a Time in Everyone's Life When A Crisis Occurs And Specific Information Is Crucial... When that time comes, if there is a rape or sexual assault and if family members are not prepared, it may have a serious impact on the outcome! Every day, we see personal and family tragedy’s, and meet someone who is victimized by sexual violence. The SRSAC or Statesboro Regional Rape Crisis Center for Children & Adults is always there, providing immediate crisis care, support, and hope to those individuals and families afflicted by this horrific crime. Crisis Intervention at SRSAC includes crisis counseling through a 24-hour crisis intervention hotline and Advocacy accompaniment services. Crisis Intervention Hotline 1-866-489-2225 The hotline is the first step, the initiating of services for sexual assault survivors, ensuring that what was once kept a secret, rape or sexual assault, can now be talked about, thereby, alleviating the shame once given to the victim and finally giving it to the perpetrators responsible. The SRSAC hotline serves as the medium where a client is educated regarding the effects of rape, informed of what to do in certain crisis situations, provided crisis intervention services for a distraught survivor re-living her/his trauma, or notify our SANEs and our Advocates regarding the need for an medical/forensic exam and an advocate to be available to rape victims. The SRSACenter's Hotline also serves as the main source of contact for Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Response Team (The SART), which is composed of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners as well as volunteer advocates and law enforcement agencies Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Center 515 Denmark St, Suite 400 Statesboro, GA 30458 912-489-6060 w ww.srsac.org Crisis Line 1-866-489-2225 |
