Last week, the Stirrup Some Fun Horseback Riding program coordinator, Alison Brown, received a call from Mr. (Coach) Jack and Mrs. Norma Stallings. They wanted to donate 220 square bales of hay to the program! YIPPEE!!! (now, for those of you who bale/purchase hay, you know that it's $4.00 a bale--that's a savings to our program of $888!!!) We use around 4 bales a week...so this ONE donation will get us through 1 year of hay for our horses. How great is that????
Now, one condition....we had to get it out of the field. Well, we had the best time. Now, I personally have done this for years with my parents, but I can tell you that it was never fun then. But this was different....this was not work...this is not something I HAD to do...this was something I wanted to do. This couple took time out of their lives to bale the hay and money out of their pocket to donate to us....YES, I am there! How many do you want me to load???
It wasn't easy by any means...that's hard work! But with lots of helping hands of teenagers, volunteers from the horseback program, and SBCPRD staff, it took no time to load these bales. and unload...and we had a great time doing it.
I wanted to take pictures...even took the camera...but was so caught up in loading the hay, that i forgot it. I am loading one picture that a staff's child took...it doesn't show our hard work, but if you look in the back of the picture you can tell that the bales of hay FILLED the entire barn and we had to find more space for all the hay.
We are so grateful for support we receive from people like the Stallings. What would this world be like without love and generosity?
Funny thing though....Ms. Norma stopped by this morning to say "thank you" to us for loading the hay! ;)
No....THANK YOU Ms. Norma and Coach Jack for your generosity, your love and your dedication to this program.
