Another question arises,, not yet answered,, WHAT was she doing up in MILLEN? was she employee or contractual if working?
Either way she would have been earning money WHILE WE PAY RETROACTIVE? Collecting on both ends, huh?
To me, that is not very ethical of McC!
I'm w/ you guesswhat. Guess I never responded to the original 'cause it seemed silly to me since they clearly wanted this to go to trial. Got the feeling he held some sort of grudge which I wouldn't want to respond to, but don't know that for a fact...perhaps not.
Guesswhat, you must be a Judy follower, otherwise you would have a better clue before you started rambling.
Shane had his ducks in a row before Judy was fired. The council agreed that she should be fired and they let her go.Shane bit the bullet and fired her with council approval. They all knew that she would file a suit because she filed a lawsuit against the city 10-15 years ago about wage discrimination.
If you go back and read the commentary regarding this particular settlement, nothing is mentioned about filing a lawsuit. It was a mediation, therefore Judy must have been encouraged by her attorneys to ask for a mediation and settlement because she could not win in court.
Britt and Chance wanted the easy way out, settle and make her sign statements that she cannot come back here. By settling it was going to cost less money. By letting her come back she makes, 100K, plus benefits, back pay, health, sick and annual leave as well as terrorizes city hall employees.
As for Millen, I do not think she worked over there, someone made a deal so she could keep her benefits, etc.
The mayor and his 3 stooges have screwed the city. I commend Mr. Britt for asking those council members to answer the public as to why they chose to bring her back.
While these men think they do not need to answer to us, they will answer to us come election day. I understand that some level headed, ready for a change group of citizens are forging ahead to run for upcoming city elections. Halledanglujah!
I also understand McCorkle was back in city hall giving orders, etc and she does not start back until July 1.
Whether you agree with this travesty or not, we are all screwed!
Auntiemae, you are way off, I am definitely not a Judy follower at all, and actually if anything I am more of a Shane follower. My point was that that Britt and Chance were content with Judy's intent to sue and welcomed the opportunity for that to come to fruition. It was the other 3 remaining councilmen and the mayor that decided that mediation was the route they wanted to go. In return, Britt and Chance chose the best option of mediation they had to choose from.
The city's bond/insurance company drives defenses to lawsuits, and they use a law firm out of Savannah.
The City is self insured they don't use anybody out of Savannah, they use Mr. Sam Brannen right here in the boro, Scary aint it!!!
The City is insured by the Georgia Interlocal Risk Management Agency (GIRMA)in these types of lawsuits. OConner from Oliver Maner is representing the city in this case.
Here's the link to GIRMA fyi. http://www.gmanet.com/PropertyLiabili...
Well you learn something everyday, Thank You, but the original point of my post was to contradict your thought process on Britt and Chance, believe me if given the opportunity they would love for Judy to file this suit and see it through to trial. If the rest of council and the Mayor would get on board it would be real interesting to see the skeletons that came out of that closet!!!
Oh please, you're wrong and pathetic "Guesswhat."
Just like Hatcher, Blitch, Brannen and Lewis...
Everyone against you is WRONG and PATHETIC.
HonestAnswers, you havent said an honest thing on here yet.
Brit and McCorkle DO have a battle between them that goes back a ways. I think this may be partially why he would want her out of city government. I don't usually agree with Mr. Britt on his views, but in this case, I think he has it right.
Here's the thing... if she goes to trial, she would definitely NOT get her job back. For some reason, she WANTS her job back; even though not many want her there. I don't personally understand that, but to each his own. So, that explains why she would go for a settlement. With a settlement she gets her job and all the back pay. If she sues and goes to trial, there is NO way she gets her job back, which is why Brit wanted her to follow through with the suit. He also likely felt she didn't have a solid case.
HonestAnswers... I don't think a lot of this info is wrong or pathetic. There is a lot more involved here. I think there is a little politics being played on both sides of this fence.
My main concern in all this is that by allowing someone to file suit and allowing that pressure to make you cave, we have set ourselves up in a very bad way. You don't let someone go until you know you have no other choice. Then, if you let someone go, you let them stay gone... no matter... you stand your ground.
Well said, Susan.
I can't understand why she would even WANT her job back in this ugly political climate - except for revenge.
In the distant past, I have not thought much of Britt, but I agree that he is right in this case. Someone else on the blogs said that somewhere along the line, he grew up - and I agree.
Let her sue - she wouldn't win. There has to be a way to stop this idiocy on the part of the 4 good ole boys who caved.
Hang in there Will Britt and Travis Chance.
POWER! its the power ladies. dont act like you dont know. the main goal a woman has in life is power. power over others, especially men. to rub thier faces in the big pile of poop, and make them beg for more. thats better than a sweet sip of good brandy. we women love to come home, look at ourselves in the mirror with that smile on our face, and enjoy the satisfaction of making it to the top. we have the ultimate power. some just dont know how to use it.
No. Shane has given us enough room for doubt with his "stretching" things on his resume, and the drama that followed him from previous employment. No offense, but I think we need someone as transparent as glass and with a clean, not murky, history. Shane may be a good guy but there are too many questions.
