Cool Senior Citizens

Another birthday rolled around for me this month and I reflect on what it means being a Senior citizen.

I recall the teachers I had in grammar, middle, and high school. They were excellent teachers but dressed so dowdy/old fashioned. Some of those dresses and shoes I can still depict in my mind today (and it's been quite awhile...

While thrifty depression era , penny-pinching, and caution are beginning to look good in our failing economy times, many grandmothers/grandfathers are emerging as hip and fun loving. Think of Mick Jagger and soon- to- be grandmother Sarah Palin. The aging baby boomers role in pop culture is going to increase.

While watching "Dancing with the Stars", Cloris Leachman , at age 82, was awesome and such an inspiration.

Incidently , life expectancy is the U.S. is on a continual increase and especially among men. Several studies say the long life is mostly determined bye the choices we make as seniors. So, seniors, let's not fret over our "advance age", but make wise choices.

To the younger generation who have mothers/fathers, grandmothers/grandfathers , aunts, uncles, etc. that are senior citzens, don't be concerned about us, (provided of course we are in good health, active, and have the means to live fairly comfortable), we might be having more fun than you realize. :-)

Birthdays are just some of the ways God shows you how important you are to Him & the rest of us... Each birthday we celebrate means we have lived one year longer to spend time with family & friends! Enjoy your Birthday!

Thanks Cathy. I did enjoy my birthday...friends gave me such a nice outdoor cook- out on the grill...dinner one evening.

I've learned to "not sweat the small stuff...realizing it's all small stuff."
