To Mr. Chester with love.
If you were not one of the fortunate people to have known Chester Williams you really missed a true gentleman and scholar. Mr. Chester was my High School principal at Metter High School from 1963-1967. He touched my life during that time and again as an adult who became friends with my late husband as a member of the Snook Pact. I have to share with you all one of my favorite memories about Mr. Chester. I was in the 10th grade and even though I was not a trouble maker I was a little cut up. Some of us girls in my class would go into the girls restroom, put on our lipstick and kiss the mirrors in the restroom. Mr. Chester would just get in a little tit because he could not track down the culprits. One day though apparently he figured out who the little group was. He came into our class and asked us to follow him into the girls restroom. The janitor was standing there with his little window washer in his hands. Mr. Chester lined us up and told the Janitor to show us how he washed the mirrors. Mr. Joe walked into one of the stalls, dipped his little window washer in the commode and came out and cleaned the mirrors. Believe me after we all gagged and ran back to our rooms we never kissed the mirrors in the rest room again. I would have thought that since some almost 40 years had passed that he would have forgotten that story. That was one of the first things he told my late husband about me.
My final words to Mr. Chester are....To Sir with Love. Rest in Peace my friend. I will never forget you
