My friends, I apologize for being away so long.

This get hectic around the office and I sometimes forget about this blog-o-sphere that many of you live in. I think it's ironic that being so young I still like to do things old school.

Anyhoo, Statesboro is 6-0. Can you believe it? Well, of course you can. But seriously, the hype machine can be a dangerous weapon when it seeps into the minds of young men. Sure it can fill them with confidence, but it can also destroy the path their on.

Statesboro has started 6-0 four times starting in 2001, made the playoffs each time, made three title games and won two championships. That's the good news.

The tough news is the road to victory lane will be much tougher over these last four weeks. It starts this week with a trip to Glynn Academy.

Then freshman Caleb Brown saved Statesboro with a 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter last year at Womack Field to tie the game at 13. The Devils held Glynn to a field goal in the first overtime, then Marcus White ran in a four-yard touchdown for the win.

This year Terrors' team has been held to just three points in three losses, won two games by a total of four points then beat then-unbeaten South Effingham last week in Guyton to draw even at 3-3.

On paper, SHS is certainly favored. But that long ride to Brunswick gives players lots of time to think. Playing in gloomy Glynn County Stadium with wet weather in the forecast could also give GA an advantage.

If SHS can survive Glynn, two of the remaing teams on the schedule are tied with the Devils for first place. The final road game on Oct. 24 is at South Effingham, a team that started 5-0.

On a final note, watch this slidshow by our photographer Scott Bryant. It's pretty unbelievable http://studiostatesboro.statesboroherald.com/statesborohigh_vs_effinghamcounty/

Statesboro 2-0 6-0
Brunswick 1-0 3-2
Ware County 1-0 2-3
South Effingham 1-1 5-1
Glynn Academy 1-1 3-3

Effingham County 0-2 2-4

Wayne County 0-2 0-6
