I agree to a great extent with you about this, SusanS. However, I am one who supports McCain in showing a little fire now. He doesn't need to make up any smears, he just needs to shed light on Barack's relationships, call him out on his economic policy. I'd really like to see Barack do that math on the "plan" he has. I want people to know about Barack's close ties with Jeremiah Wright, I want them to know about his ties with William Ayers, I want people to know how Barack got into Harvard, I want to know myself about his senior thesis paper and why it's such a secret. I want the very life of this man unearthed if he is going to lead our country and I want McCain to take him to task on things in a manner in which he hasn't before. A friend sent me a link to view SNL. I am glad to say, that not only have I never watched it before this election...I have never seen SNL in my life. There are very few movies that I will go and watch because I simply do no support the moral and ethical standards of so many in Hollywood. I have watched the conservative channels, but also I've done my homework and researched these bills, the bill proposals and I know the ones that voted for them and against them. And also, I like reviews of C-Span....no one can angle that. We may choose to turn off the news, but there are so many out there that aren't getting the picture. I wish there was a better way to make it clearer.
Good one SusanS and I agree with scargo. I think it funny that no friend that Barack went to college with has ever been interviewed and no one will comment on who is friends were. Over the years we have gotten to know McCains and Sarah's life is an open book...from her parents to her friends she grew up with. I think people should question that fact more..unless they are morons and just don't care to know.
SusanS wrote: "Information was leaked that the election coverage is going to get ugly in the last month of campaigning. I, for one, am disgusted with the mud slinging - and that's a nice way of describing it. These are people that we are going to select to run our country. I believe we can demand more integrity and respect from them. If they will treat each other in such a terrible manner, how will they handle our country? And the media FEEDS off this stuff."
Reading that, I get more upset with the campaigns than the media.
That said, if you want to impact the news media, don't only boycott their coverage, but boycott sponsors of those programs as well.
Nowhereman... Yes, I agree with you. That is why I so strongly suypport Sarah Palin. I believe that she will not put up with Washington politics as usual.
Scargo... I'm with you as well! I don't have a problem with anyone calling a duck a duck.. if I may use that analogy. But I DO have a problem with someone calling a duck a swan!
You all have made a good point, however I dont understand why Obama answers questions with questions.I feel like we should know why he palls around with hoodlums and then says that they are not his friends. Does the Mafia own him or something? Why would he(Obama) go to a church for 20 years and claim that he did not listen to the preacher nor took his sermons seriously? These evasions of answers really bother me.
He's a con man, I'm telling you. He's the handsome dude who slicked the old lady out of her Social Security checks. He's the football star who talked the high school freshman out of her innocence then walked away leaving her crying after he got what he wanted.
He's the used car salesman who deals in lemons. He's the snake oil man who peddles castor oil mixed with horse manure as a cure-all.
Obama knows how to talk the talk and walk the walk. He's evasive, and knows how to dodge issues with diversionary tactics.
That's why I like the McCain/Palin team. Sure, both sides have made mistakes and gone on the attack - that's politics. But I trust McCain and Palin more than I do Obama, and I don't think Biden is as supportive of Obama as he claims to be. I think Biden accepted the VP slot for the mone, power and prestige more than his confidence in Obama.
Why else would he have said Obama isn't ready for the White House?
By the way - do any of you know WHEN he said that? It HAD to be before he accepted the VP bid.... it just HAD to be.
ibdaisy, when you ask these questions, also ask why Obama is not helping his poverty-stricken brother and then ask why none of these die-hard Obama suporters will TOUCH this question with a 10-foot pole.
I have issued the challenge and none have risen to meet it!
He's the O.J.(JUICE) that murdered his wife and got away with it. Now his luck has ran out. Maybe the same will happen to B.O.
Watchdog.... yes I believe you are right. Biden clearly made that statement prior to being asked to run as V.P. I think I remember it being said by him shortly after Obama officially announced he was running. Biden was more on the Clinton wagon at the time if I am correct.
Maybe this will help, watchdog...he said a lot more than him not being ready to be president!
Biden Has Served As Obama's Top Foreign Policy Critic, Even Saying Obama Is Not Ready To Be President:
Biden Said Obama Is Not Ready To Serve As President. ABC's George Stephanopoulos: "You were asked is he ready. You said 'I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.'" Sen. Biden: "I think that I stand by the statement." (ABC's, "This Week," 8/19/07)
Biden: "If the Democrats think we're going to be able to nominate someone who can win without that person being able to table unimpeachable credentials on national security and foreign policy, I think we're making a tragic mistakeā¦" (Sen. Biden, "The Diane Rehm Show," 8/2/07)
Biden: "Having Talking Points On Foreign Policy Doesn't Get You There." ("Biden Lashes Out At Obama," ABC News' "Political Radar" Blog, blogs.abcnews.com, 8/2/07)
Biden Attacked Obama For Voting Against Funding Troops In Iraq And Afghanistan, Accusing Him Of "Cutting Off Support That Will Save The Lives Of Thousands Of American Troops." Biden: "And, look, Tim, if you tell me I've got to take away this protection for these kids in order to win the election, some things aren't worth it. Some things are worth losing over. That would be worth losing over. Hundreds of lives are being saved and will be saved by us sending these vehicles over which we are funding with this supplemental legislation. And I want to ask any of my other colleagues, would they, in fact, vote to cut off the money for those troops to protect them? That's the right question. This isn't cutting off the war. This is cutting off support that will save the lives of thousands of American troops." (NBC's "Meet The Press," 9/9/07)
Biden On Obama's Leadership On Iraq: "I Don't Recall Hearing A Word From Barack About A Plan Or A Tactic." (Jason Horowitz, "Biden Unbound: Lays Into Clinton, Obama, Edwards," The New York Observer, 2/4/07)
Biden On Whether He Would Meet Unconditionally With The Leaders Of Rogue States As Obama Said He Would: "Absolutely Positively No." Biden: "Would I make a blanket commitment to meet unconditionally with the leaders of each of those countries within the first year I was elected president? Absolutely positively no." (Remarks At The National Press Club, Washington, DC, 8/1/07)
Biden Criticized Obama's "Johnny-Come-Lately Position" On Afghanistan. "The Biden for President Campaign today congratulated Sen. Obama for arriving at a number of Sen. Biden's long-held views on combating al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Much of what Senator Obama has proposed Senator Biden has already initiated or accomplished." (Press Release, 8/1/07)
Notice the comment about meeting with leaders of Rogue nations and then think back to the debate the other night about his spill..."sit down, talk, sit down, talk."
Very interesting... I knew one of you would find the info! Mommy2... you go girl!! I actually thought Southga would find the youtube videos!!
Let's not forget the Keating 5 / Savings & Loan bailout, while we're talking about transparency and solid records.
Okay Thinkfirst.. you just opened a can of worms you didn't want to open... I LOVED in Arizona when the Keating scandal occurred. Go ahead.. ask me questions... what do you want to know about it?
Obama bringing that one up will only serve to make McCain look even better. He handled that whole mess with dignity, truth and character.
It is disgraceful that Obama is so desperate to bring up that garbage. The Keating scandal was about Keating. He tried to drag many high ranking officials into it as a scare tactic (in the form of blackmail saying he'd drag all of them down with him with his lies) in order to try to save his own sleezy skin. John Mcain refused to go along with it and spoke out against him.
Ask away... give me your questions. John McCain was partially responsible for a very bad man going down. I was there, I heard it and saw it all.
LOL! That's funny ibdaisy! I do love in Georgia! I also live in Georgia! :-) I have been sick for the past week and add to that my passion about that topic, and yep.. I typoed! LOL! It's always good when things can get lightened up by a simple typo! :-)
