
It was an exciting night last Friday at Womack Field.
Graden Bozeman kicked - and I mean kicked - a 48-yard field goal as time expired to beat Thomson 17-14 as time expired. It was a fun scene and a fun ending to what was otherwise an uneventful contest.
The win for the Blue Devils put SHS at 4-0. They're now No. 3 in the state in Class AAAA and are starting to make people believe this team is for real.
But the second half of the season begins this week with a trip to Wayne County and the start of 2-AAAA play. The Yellow Jackets aren't playing very well under the direction of new coach Mark Daniel, but one things for sure when facing a Mark Daniel-coached team: they'll be ready to play.
Statesboro has no reason to lose this game on paper, and should improve to 5-0 and 1-0 in region play. But if the Devils don't show up in Jesup focused, it could be the upset of the year.
