If you don't have plans for Friday night and you're a football junkie, why not head about an hour north to watch Statesboro play Burke County.
This one has all the makings of an early season classic. Statesboro hasn't been tested yet in its two wins over Josey and Groves, while Burke County is in the midst of a murderer's row run of 2-AAAA teams. The Bears reside in Region 3-AAA.
The Blue Devils should certainly be on upset alert. Burke held Effingham County - an effective wishbone offense - to just 14 points. A week later they put 27 on Ware County in Waycross, losing by a touchdown.
There's no doubt that talking with SHS players this week that they'll be ready to go. The question remains as to whether they'll be up for the adverse environment that awaits them Friday night at the Bears' Den.
