Well folks, it's about that time to get cranked up again.

It's been a long summer, but the SHS sports season is right around the corner and I'm here to tell you all about it.

First, of course, there's football. I'm sure everyone has heard all the talk about the Devils being potential title contenders. Is all that talk for real?

Yes. Statesboro, in my opinion, has all the pieces to make a run at this thing. The bottom line is want to. They're talented - certainly not as talented as some other teams. They have the expectations - maybe not as great of expectations as other teams. They have the leaders and the coaching - it's all a matter of putting it together.

Remember one word for this season: consistency.

If Statesboro can be consistent, whether it be from kickoffs to 3rd-and-1's to penalties, consistency will be the No. 1 issue.

The season starts Friday at home against Josey.

 On to softball.

While most teams are inching toward double digit games this season, SHS is still waiting to plays its second.

After a 9-0 loss to Ware County to open the year, the annual Battle in the Boro tournament was rained out this past weekend.

The Devils will try again on Thursday, traveling to Effingham County.
