Hi Araina,
The trinomial name for a ferret is "Mustela putorius furo"
Why not "Musty"?
Just a thought...
Araina,
Ferrets are very nosey and curious. They love to find things in your house and stock pile them...like empty toilet paper rolls. You may find loads of these under your bed someday. :) The novel by Steinbeck, To Kill A Mockingbird, has a lovely name in it for your new furry friend: Scout
Scargo.... I typically go with the flow and don't "pick apart" a blog... but one of my favorite novels and one I teach each year is "To Kill a Mockingbird". While Steinbeck deserves his props, he was not responsible for TKAM... that would be a lady by the name of Harper Lee (or by some conspiracy theorists accounts, Lee's childhood friend Truman Capote). However, aside from the small author mishap, I think Scout would be a wonderfully cute name for a ferret. Araina... Scargo has my vote for a great name pick!
Yes, you are so correct and after I hit the send button, I realized that and couldn't change it. But...I like "Of Mice and Men" too. :)
I think this is hilarious! But, I'll throw my two cents in. :-) I'll always deferr to kstricland when it comes to names from a book! But, interestingly, there is some historical research that mentions ferrets may have come from Egypt or Greece! So, maybe you could call him Pharoah, or Moses, or any one of the greek gods. :-) A sweet one of course, since he is such a sweet ferret. :-) Good luck. I'm not sure any of us are really helping. :-)
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate the thought and help. I still haven't decided on a name, but he's got a vet visit first thing in the morning so he'll need one by then. Some of the other suggestions given to me from co-workers, friends and family have been Big Boy (so I'd have a Little Man and a Big Boy), Rhett, Casper, Casanova, Amore, Tristan, Kaz, Dax, Dagger and a couple not appropriate for the blog place ...
At one time I had a pair of ferrets. Simba and Nala. Simba was real sweet and cuddly. Nala was a mean little thing. I took her to the Vet for shots or something, I don't remember. Any way I told the Vet she would bite. The Vet assured me she knew what she was doing. She took Nala in the back room and came out shortly with a bandaged finger. I told her I was sorry. She said, you warned me that she would bite. They lived to 9 & 10 years old. Nala loved to play with a beach ball. She would try to pull it under a closed door. She never did figure out why she could get under the door but the ball would't. They totally demolished my bathroom. I felt sorry for them in that cage. I had one of those real tall ones. I worked the 12 to 8 shift and Nala got out one night and got in the bed with my husband. He about had a heart attack for he was afraid of them. My daughter in law said I kill them things at my house. She thinks they look like rats. Good luck with your new baby.
