I just learned today that Northland Cable has offered to the Statesboro City Council to broadcast the city council meetings free of charge. That would be a wonderful thing. Older citizens that cannot get out would enjoy this and others (and believe there are more than that council room could hold) would love to know what goes on in the meetings. I am sure that the council will get in touch with NCTV and welcome this opportunity with open arms since it would give more citizens the opportunity to keep up with our city governement first hand.

I would't bet on it. Most city's and states and so on that have live broadcast's fought it tooth and nail untill citizens demanded it. The next problem then becomes the politicians playing to the camaras as in Washington D.C.
Sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes not.

That is a great idea. I have two kids and can't attend the meetings and other times they are held while I am in class. I could make this a part of learning for my 6th graders.

Wonderful Idea.

I have talked with several people about this. One local paint store business owern told me that her father would love to keep up with the city council but is unable to attend the meetings. This is a wonderful idea. I sure hope that the city council will discuss this with Lee and the others at NCTV.
