In my local billing statement from Georgia Power was a notice warning about scam artists who have been successful in victimizing several Ga.Power customers recently as they visited company offices to pay their bills. The theives claim to be able to obtain additional account credit for customers who make bill payments through them rather than inside company offices. I can't quite understand how they do this? Do customers actually turn over their cash payments to these scam artist (who disappear and are not heard from again), leaving the customer with the loss? Are they standing outside the offices claiming to be able to do this for customers? Do the customers even bother to ask how these scamers can obtain account credit? I cannot imagine falling for something like that !
Do any of you know of someone who has been a victiim by this or any other related type scam?
