Throughout the year, we look forward to events like the Kiwanis-Ogeechee Fair in the fall, the Rattlesnake Roundup in Claxton, the Turpentine Festival in Portal, Another Blooming Festival in Metter, and many more. Every year for the past 14 years, the City of Statesboro Public Works department shows their appreciation for the community by holding the Annual Watermelon and Peanut Boiling Festival. Hundreds of people from Statesboro show up for the event, which offers up free drinks, watermelon and boiled peanuts to anyone who attends. The festival, which starts today (Friday) at 10 a.m. and wraps up around 12 p.m., will be held at the City of Statesboro Public Works building, located at 5 Braswell Street.
