Probably so.I have a little Cobra over and under derringer 22 long with a safety that is just beautiful rather than the 38 special. My son has the 38 in titanium ,mine feels like carrying a cannon.
I was always a hunter up north ,mostly partridge ( ruffed grouse) rabbit , pheasant and woodcock. Never carried until moving here . I do have the carry permit.
Yes, I am afraid of other carriers with road rage ,etc.It was too easy getting that permit.
My son is Deputy Chief-Federal Prison Bureau and also a cert.fed arms and hand to hand combat instructor. He amazes me in that he shoots one in each hand and governs each one with that eye L&R.
I gave up hunting long ago. Age caught up with me.Would enjoy a range but where is one here?
Son wants me to move to TX under his watching eye. They have a rule of gun visible on seat and unloaded .Presume that does not apply to carriers?Crazy law, leaves it to be stolen, etc.
Good blogging with you.
It's funny. Licensed responsible gun owners are now allowed inside of restaurants where only criminals carried before, and suddenly we're less safe?
I don't have a problem with responsable people carrying a fire arm. It may prevent tragadies or atleast make one less severe. I do however believe it should not be so easy to get concieled permits. You should be required to take some sort of training class. Not everyone should be allowed to walk around with a firearm.
What range do you shoot at?
My own range. I live far enough out to where twice a month I set up my own targets - cans, sticks - my son even draws some targets on paper and I shoot them. I have a 38 titanium, too.
Very light and accurate.
I'm still not sure if I'll take it with to dinner. In general I agree with commonsense's comments about responsible gun owners. But waranne and bullochguy also are right. It's awful easy to get a concealed permit. There need to be some more requirements for training.
Thanks for your comments.
Paulie, you just gave me a vision to chew on. A guy walks into a restaurant, pulls out a gun and shouts "This is a stickup!" Five people immediately draw guns and point them back at him and say "Stick it!" Now that would be a scene for a movie wouldn't it?
Someone who is going to pull a gun in a public place (unless in defense) is not going to be the kind of person who bothers with obtaining a permit to carry concealed.
I don't have a problem with someone with a permit carrying a gun. They're not the ones t be worried about - its those who are packing without a permit, who would be more likely to use the gun to rob the place or worse.
If we need more police, let's get more police. If we need more prisons, let's build more prisons. If we need more counselors, let's provide more counselors. If we need better schools, let provide better schools. If parents can't or won't parent, let's step in.If the economy stinks, let's salvage the economy.BUT---let's not revisit the Wild West.I am a gun aficionado ,but I don't think everyone should be packing.
