I headed out to Mill Creek Park on Tuesday evening with my dog, Amelia, to walk a couple of laps around the track and give us both some much-needed exercise. It was warm, the gnats were at bay, and there was just enough of a breeze to make a brisk walk tolerable.
As we trekked through the park, Ameila stopped for attention and affection from a ladies’ yoga class that was in session along the side of the trail. For once, she was seemingly oblivious to the numerous other dogs and owners that jogged by us.
Moving along, we noticed that the Lazy River and water slide pools had been filled at Splash In The Boro, and stopped at the fence surrounding the park to watch as the new staff members trained for the facility’s opening this weekend.
We must have easily crossed paths with a half-dozen people that I work with and see around town, including one of my colleagues that was also out running with her pup. We stopped to chat and remarked on how many people were out and about, how our lives were, what was new, and how great it was that we were able to catch up for a few minutes outside of the office.
Whether you choose to go to Mill Creek like we did, or participate in any number of charity bike runs, horseback riding trips, organized sports or even a simple picnic, be sure to take the time to get out there and enjoy living. Even with a hectic schedule, it is important to make the time to do something relaxing. With so much to see and do in our community, it’s hard not to find something that will appeal to you.
Check out the community events calendar on our website at: community.statesboroherald.com for ideas on things to do in and around Statesboro.

See you out there!

Ah, you take time to smell the roses.I must do so in a disabled way but my trips outside with my scooter and little Holly are wonderful at break of dawn and sunset perticularly. This last pet of ours never stops loving. She is a 3 yr. old toy poodle and given to us on Christmas 2004 by our family.Originally coal black she turned silver and is full of kisses, talks to us with a large vocabulary, has about 30 toys and knows the name of each. You may see her on my pics.
