AUGUSTA – “I put myself right back in the tournament."
Those words came out of Tiger Woods’ mouth after he walked off the 18th green Saturday – words everyone in the field was hoping they might not hear this weekend.
Before Saturday Woods hadn’t made much of a charge, but the world’s best golfer leapt all the way to fifth place by carding a 4-under 68 in the third round. That put him within striking distance of leader Trevor Immelman, who maintained his position atop the leaderboard with a 3-under 69. He’s 11-under for the tournament, six shots better than Tiger.
Can Immelman hold on to the lead?
What about second-place Brant Snedeker, who put together another strong round and sits at 9-under?
How will the cool and windy conditions forecast for Sunday factor in?
Will Tiger continue his charge?
Can third-place Steve Flesch and fourth-place Paul Casey maintain their spots?
Will everyone crumble with Tiger lurking?
What’ll unfold remains to be seen, but one thing’s for certain: It’s shaping up to be another drama-filled Sunday at Augusta National.
