The Pilot Club of Statesboro recently presented the GA Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association with $2500 to stock the new "Caring Closet" location in Bulloch County at the Outreach Center, 515 Denmark Street Statesboro. The "Caring Closet" was developed to assist families to meet the hygiene needs of individuals with dementia, specifically later stage Alzheimer's disease.
Caregivers may call the Coastal GA Alzheimer's Association in Savannah at 1-800-272-3900 or go by the caring closet in Statesboro on Friday mornings from 9:30-1:30pm and ask for a physician's form to faxed to their doctor's office in order to qualify for this free service. Caregivers may receive disposable briefs, slip-ons, bed pads, cream, gloves and wipes once a month while supplies last.
