Been a busy week here in Statesboro sports.
So busy, in fact, almost forgot to do this weekly blog I committed myslef to.
I'll start with soccer, as it's been a pretty futbol heavy week.
The boys' team is struggling - mentally.
This squad ceratinly has the talent to be better then its record indicates.
To make matters even more difficult, SHS hasn't had a true home game, switching between Mill Creek and Georgia Southern may have more of an impact on the kuds' play than one might think.
At 1-4 in Region 3-AAAA play, the Devils are certainly a team no one wants to see in the preliminary rounds of the region or even state tournament.
Head coach Chad Prosser believes this team has yet to peak, and I think he's right. Statesboro's best soccer is yet to come.
Over on the diamond, the Statesboro team is struggling as well. Region play began earlier this week and SHS dropped the opener 6-0 on the road to Evans.
But there's still hope. Statesboro still isn't 100 percent healthy and still isn't playing 100 percent consistent.
If - and it's not a very big if - the Diamond Devils can start scoring some runs and play error-free defense, they've got plenty of time to right the ship. Even if they can't knock off power Greenbrier on Friday night, the baseball season is a long one, and the Devils should be just fine.
