The current and most popular rumor is Hooters...
I have often discovered many questions are answered in the public notice section of the classifieds...
Great another hangout where there will be lots of scantly clad women being 'googled' by guys. Why can't we get a family oriented restaurant...at least someplace that I would be comfortable taking my teenage son. I know that people are going to dress the way they want, wherever they are, but do we have to promote this in a restaurant here in Statesboro? What about a TGIFridays...the food is good and the staff dress decent...and from what I remember it was still a fun atmosphere! Hooters may very well be coming, and I would almost bet that the clintele will mostly be college students...just another hangout to promote the attitude that Statesboro and the surrounding communities are hoping to avoid. If it is true, and Hooters is coming, I won't be frequenting that restaurant! Only MY opinion...everyone is entitled to their own!
I wouldn't have as much a problem with Hooters if they gave equal play - if you have women scantily clad, why not have some ripped dudes in tight jeans and no shirts, just a cowboy hat, serving my steak and margarita?
Just FYI, um........ I am having a steak and margarita party at my house this weekend, I'll be serving the goods up for you ladies in a leather G string and cowboy hat. Due to my broken ankle I'll be sporting a state of the art aircast on my left leg and 1 cowboy boot on my right. Of course as usual there will be no charge... at first. Everything comes with a price. Seeing me in a leather g string will probably take atleast 5 years off of your life......But I AM a sexyman........
D Train pullin out Wooooohooooo roflmao
The Hooter's rumor has been around for over a year, maybe close to two. The last rumor (and it's only a rumor) that I heard is that it will be Cedar River Seafood. I had never heard of it before and I'm not sure why they would decide to expand into Statesboro since it appears they have only one location, which is in DeLand, Florida.
Hey Jan, how about giving them a call?
D Train, don't get too close to the grill.
BAHAHAHAHA GOOD ONE BOROOUTSIDER
Listen Cedar river seafood started in jax, fla I've ate there many times, a little pricy but good food is worth it.
I would prefer Cedar anyday, Hooters would be great too.
How will Cedar Rivers be any different than the Shell House? Hopefully better food and lower prices. I wonder why the Shell House did not fare well in that location. Sonny's seems to be doing very well!
Jan asked me to post this: She is not yet certain who bought the property, but she is certain it is NOT Hooters. Statesboro has no Sunday alcohol sales, so a Hooters will not locate here, she said. The Hooters rumor has been around a few years, she said.
hbragg, As to why the Shell House didn't make it, many people, including myself, don't mind paying good money for good food. However, we will not pay good money to be served out of Styrofoam and eat with plastic. Especially at a Saturday night dinner. My girlfriend and I went to the Crab Shack on Tybee last Saturday night, good food, good service, decent price. But we won't go back because of the same thing. Plastic and Styrofoam.
I have been to seafood places where the food, price, service and atmosphere were much better than the Shell House ever thought about being. Of course, none of these were anywhere near Statesboro.
I can't leave this blog without commenting on Red's post. Just WHY can't you take your teenage son to Hooters? My son has been going into Hooters since he was a baby. Even my 67 yo mother enjoys Hoot's.
EVERYTIME I go into a Hooters, ANYWHERE, there are families eating and enjoying themselves. Hoot's is not a STRIP joint!
I can see more skin on any given spring or summer day at Walmart!
rkick1960 asked why I wouldn't take my 13 year to Hooters...we have been to a Hooters once, in Savannah. As a parent it is my responsibility to do MY best to keep my children away from places that I don't believe promote a healthy atmosphere. Hooters is one of those places. I also do not let him watch R movies for the same reasons. As a parent I take my responsibility seriously and do what I can. If other people want to take their children, that is their business...I don't and I won't. I believe that there is enough oppurtunity out there for my son to be exposed to things (local Wal-Mart) that I don't appreciate or value and I want to do my best to encourage better. Hooters may not be a strip joint but the company wants to exploit womens bodies...if they didn't then they could have regular shirts with a logo and jeans that covered more than the top portion of a womens butt cheek. Like I said in my original post, this is MY opinion. You have a different opinion and I respect that.
