Express Tune and Lube on Zetterower Street and Gentilly Gardens Assisted Living Facility received special awards Wednesday, February 6 from the GA Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association as top fund raisers for the First Annual Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk in Statesboro.
Express Tune and Lube won for business team raising the most funds and Gentilly Gardens won for long term care community team.
The "Memory Walk", held annually nationwide, raises funds for research and caregiver support for those affected by this long term memory loss disease that directly affects over 5 million people in the United States as estimated by the 2007 US census figures.

The Gentilly Gardens team includes Margaret Greene, Director of the facility and others on the team receiving the award from Ms. Floyd on behalf of the board of directors of the regional office.

There is also a caregiver support group that meets monthly at Statesboro First United Methodist Church from 1:30-3:00 the second Mondy of each month.
