Watching Zuckerberg (Z) pilloried by Senators is the height of hypocrisy. He is a capitalist entrepreneur who has been successful. His success has been praised by the very people dragging him through multiple mea culpas for executing his business plan.

And every piece of data has been voluntarily provided by subscribers.

Data mining has existed in different forms for years. How do you think whichever party is in power in a census year gets their redistricting information?

And those stupid app agreements to terms where most people just automatically check "Yes" - those folks are responsible for the dissemination of their data.

But, Facebook does face issues about their provision of data to advertisers. They have to look to their own terms of agreement, which is -as usual - lengthy, displayed in small font, and boring; and which all users agreed to.

Bryant: I agree with most of your post. Don’t faint, here is my comments.

Facebook should only be allowed to post ads on Facebook targeted to all Facebook users. The number of Facebook users, should determine how much Facebook gets paid by an advertiser. That is how TV Stations, Radio Stations, Newspapers and Magazines get paid. I agree with that Facebook users freely give up their rights by signing Facebook’s long and legal user agreement, however, the fact that a user must first befriend a person before the user’s info is shared with the new friend, is what most people think are the people who can see the user’s info and posts. Facebook is using all the data and will share that data with anyone (they approve of) for a price. Furthermore, they censer what may or may not be posted on their Web site. Facebook does not engage in Freedom of Speech, and it does not have too, it is a private company. It is no different than the Christian baker refusing to bake a wedding cake for a gay wedding. The baker is a private business and has the right to say who they will bake a cake for.

Facebook may not be violating the 4th Amendment because of their user agreement, but Facebook should not be allowed to sell the data, share the data, or allow anyone to spy on a Facebook page. Facebook should earn it’s profits like the others do, based on ads being posted on Facebook for all user to view.

Your comment about data mining being done using the Census is accurate. This is true about the Census sense 1950 when the Democrats dropped the question about citizenship status and added all kinds of question about ethnicity, salary, race, gender, and on and on to cover all the constituent groups of the Democrat Party, for apportioning Federal Tax Dollars to those groups, rather than what the Constitution requires, apportioning Federal Tax dollars by the number of citizens “only”. It’s just another example of how the Democrats have violated the Constitution for a long time.

So, the government develops policies based upon census data including salary, etc. and somehow this benefits only Democrats? And show me a specific law apportioning tax dollars based upon race, ethnicity or gender.

The Great Society legislation and all the other laws passed by Democrat controlled Congresses, including the hundreds of billions of dollars put in the last omnibus spending bill. The Constitution treats every American the same, that is why the Census requires the counting of citizens only and apportion Federal Tax dollars based on how many citizens are in each Congressional District.

So, you got nothing?

Ironside commented on Sunday, Apr 15, 2018 at 08:45 AM

What I got is Trillions of dollars earned by the working class, taken from the working class by government force "Taxes", and transferred to the non-working class, using The Great Society and other Liberal Democrat laws as justification of the theft.

President Trump's reaction to the execution of a search warrant on his personal attorney is a disgrace. These are professional law enforcement personnel; sworn to the same oath of office as Trump himself. To characterize is as "a break in" is an insult to the FBI and the Constitution!

I recently received a solicitation for the "2018 Statesboro Area Appeal" "The Hospice Support Fund". As a fan and supporter of our local hospice, I read the appeal closely. First I will congratulate the parent organization, The New Hope Foundation, for the honesty of their appeal. While slightly misleading by ...

Nothing changes, yet

I originally posted this February 13, 2017. Today, February 18, 2018, nothing has changed. Our Senators remain tongue tied and Mr. Allen crows about actions which will increase our already crushing debt and endanger the health of rural Georgians. Our President remains a liar, concerned more with the failure of ...
