I believe that the Ten Commandments were written by two different authors, the first four by an unreasonable and cruel being claiming to have made all things, while threatening unpleasant reprisals upon anyone who does not believe, revere and obey him - whereas six through ten is a list of instinctive moral standards practiced by any normal person living in a normal society – no commandments needed.
