Just an observation that in these days of candidates trying to out conservative or out progressive one another and talking about anything other than how to actually solve some of our country's problems, Bulloch County is truly blessed to have two such well-qualified candidates vying for Clerk of Superior Court. Both of these candidates have a wealth of experience and I have no doubt either one would be a fine Clerk of Court. Nice to have the problem of choosing the best rather than the lesser of evils.

While you are at it, I would highly recommend looking into Richard Woods for Georgia State Superintendent. I have had the pleasure of talking with him personally twice and he strikes me as being exactly what Georgia needs right now to get education back on track.
Sometimes this type of election gets forgotten...and then everyone complains about education but no one invested even a moment in thinking about who they put in charge. this year, I would sincerely like to ask folks to go to Woods website and read what he stands for. I think this one is a no brainer. :-)

For those of you who have not voted early and will be voting Republican tomorrow, I have one entreaty. For the Public Service Commission seat do not vote for the incumbent, "Bubba" McDonald. McDonald has admitted reports in the Atlanta Constitution that he comes to work less than 1/2 the ...

Government by intimidation?
May 18, 2014
Letter to the editor which may or not see the light of day in print. I never fail to marvel at George Will's ability to wield language in such a fashion as to denigrate liberals (anyone to the left of Rick Santorum) and trash those he purports to support (law ...

Linguistically speaking
March 30, 2014
A recent commercial on TV for some sort of massaging goggles supposed to be a health benefit were touted as aiding the purchaser to "rest and de-stress". I guess "rest" wasn't hip enough. Pretty soon Boy Scouts will be de-bunking at camp at reveille.

Ambassador Appointments
February 17, 2014
Much is being made of recent nominations for ambassador positions. Nominees not having ever visited the country to which they are being nominated. Not being fully versed in the current political situation of the country. Being rewarded for fund raising for the sitting president. Big whoop! Ambassador positions have always ...
