Students come join Downtown Statesboro for holiday festivities this year. You can get ahead of your holiday shopping, as the local merchants will be open late for your convenience. In addition, you can check out all the local merchants’ windows, as the Frills 5th Avenue Christmas window design Challenge, sponsored by 'Betty Foy Sanders--Department of Art' takes place. This year’s theme consists of “Winter Wonderland”.
Your fellow local Georgia Southern University students majoring in Arts, Interior Design, Theatre, and Fashion, each will be assigned a business downtown. Students will be placed in teams of two and will have 72 hours to create their own window decorations based on the theme. The dates are from Wednesday, Dec 4 to Friday, Dec 6.
The public will have a chance to judge window designs. Ticket baskets will be in front of each store participating. Voters can stop by stores to vote on the windows that night. The windows will be revealed at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6.
Also going on downtown will be a 5K run, and free photo booth with Santa, and for a dollar donation you can take part of the Chili Cook off and sample over 30 different chilies.
Don’t miss taking part in this community celebration where laughter will fill the air and spirits are lifted for the holidays. For more information contact the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority at 912.764.7227 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
