FBSchedules.com is reporting that Georgia Southern has added Navy & Georgia Tech to the Schedule in 2014 plus they are close to adding NC State as well. All of these games would be away so all will have very good paydays for GSU. Of course these are in addition to LSU, Duquesne and Hampton (all three already scheduled) which begs the question will Georgia Southern play a 14 game schedule in 2014. I'm not sure but I don't think that is allowed by the NCAA so my guess is that we will be dropping the 2 FCS teams Duquesne and Hampton. With LSU, Navy, Georgia Tech and NC State being all away games and then 4 away Sun Belt games that only leaves FOUR home games in 2014. Maybe the plan is to drop LSU and keep one of the FCS opponents and if so that will at least give us five home and seven away.

On a brighter note I am very happy with the teams we have added. All three are solid name brand teams and I feel we can compete with all three. If we can win one or two of those we will quickly make a name for ourselves in FBS.

Hail Southern!!!

Headline: Eagles to go 1-11 in 2014!!!!

I don't see it that way at all watchgator. The only way for Georgia Southern to play in good bowl games in the future is to command a national following. How do you do that? Well for starters you must play good quality teams and win. The three teams added are good games that I think GSU will compete in. 1-11 is a bit harsh for out first year but I think maybe we go 1-3 against these teams and 5-3 in the conference to break even our first year.

If LSU is moved or dropped and we keep one of the FCS teams then 2-2 out of conference and 7-5 overall is my guess.

Dang those are some really good match-ups for us but it sucks we couldn't get at least one of them at home.

flowmaster I read today that the LSU game has been moved to 2017 and Hampton was dropped so that means we will play five at home and seven away in 2014.

I know 2014 is a long way off but I like the Eagles chances with this new conference. Watchgator said we would go 1-11 and wwwhunter said 7-5 so here is my take on it.

Out of conference we beat Navy in a close one and win against the Div II team of course. I give us 50/50 odds at GT but I will call it a loss and I think NC State cleans our clock for sure so 2 wins - 2 losses here.

In conference we play App St. 50/50 call it a win, Georgia St. a win, South Alabama a win, Troy 50/50 call it a loss and a TBA (FCS move up) call it a win so in the east we go 4-1. Now the real question is who do we play in the west? Texas State is a win, ULL is a loss, UM is 50/50, stAte is a loss, Idaho and NMSU are wins so depending on who we draw from the west I think we could see our Eagles anywhere from 6-6 to 9-3 in 2014.
