Hi,

How would you like to spend 12 weeks learning about the Statesboro Police Department and law enforcement in general?
What if it is free? What if dinner is provided?

The Statesboro Police Department is having a Citizens Police Academy starting Tuesday, April 30. Classes are one night per week and last from 2-3 hours.

The classes are offered to anyone who lives or works in and around the Statesboro area.

Deadline for applications is Friday, April 12. You may pick-up applications at the Statesboro Police Department on West Grady St. You must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background investigation. Class size is very limited.

This is their fifth such Academy class since 2010. I graduated from one of the 2010 classes myself and enjoyed it tremendously.

For more information, contact the Statesboro Police Department or Officer Justin Samples at 912-764-9911.

Sound fantastic.

Am I the only one here that automatically thinks of the Police Academy Movies? Specifically, "Citizens on Patrol."

I'd like to patrol with Tackleberry or Hightower!

Who does that guy think he is?
February 09, 2015
Hi, Have you seen the guy wearing a coon cap around town? He has been spotted around town at various restaurants, grocery stores, and other establishments. I overheard one woman telling her friends that he is kind of a manly man and was definitely trying to check him out. Who ...

And to think...
September 13, 2014
The sports season is still young and anything can happen later on. However, knowing there are some people around here that think the move to the Sun Belt Conference and the FBS was a bad decision...leaves Walkie speechless. I'm just not talking football. The other GSU sports teams are doing ...

As I am typing these words, I am listening to a CD containing music from the lady of 6000 songs. Do you have a favorite song you would like to mention? I must say two of mine are "Pardon my southern accent, pardon my southern drawl,..." and the timeless classic ...

Kingston vs Perdue
July 14, 2014
Hi, I wonder if the Statesboro Herald is biased towards Jack Kingston. http://www.statesboroherald.com/section/1/article/61760/ The photos used in the article says it all. Jack Kingston is shown in a much brighter photo than David Perdue. Or is it a case of the Perdue campaign showing its dark side? If I were ...
