Hi,

Do you know about Georgia House bills 28 and 29?

HB28 will allow the carrying of firearms inside places of worship.

HB29 will allow the carrying of firearms on the campus of our state college and universities.

Looks like I will be contacting Mr. Parrish, Mr. Burns, and Mrs. Tankersley.

I weep to think of the misguided mind(s) of any legislator that would introduce such idiotic legislation. "Let's see. I'm off to church. Tie straight? Yep. Hair combed? yep. Got my Glock? Yep. Got my Bible? Now, where did I put the danged thing?"

Bryant,

A weapon inside God's house goes against I believe in. I agree with your comments.

However, I must admit I have doubts too, given that the number of people wounded or killed in a church is on the rise. Add to the fact that law enforcement officers cannot be everywhere all of the time.

When we focus more on the possible threats instead of the words inspired by God, our society is on the edge of a cliff.

I am a veteran and served my country with honor and pride. I have owned guns and at this time I chose not to. Simply because I do not feel the need to. I hear many people comment about how disappointed they are at the level of violence that happens at the end of a gun not to mention the other forms of violence. Yet from the conversation in air lately one would be mistaken to think that having a gun was the most important thing in ones life. Do we really need to have so many guns? Do we really feel that unsafe in our own homes? Have we really lost our faith in the ability of law enforcement to do their job? Do we really fear our government that much? Are there not better ways to deal with the issues of the day that at the point of a gun?

Hi, As I was sitting next to the garden fountain in a certain famous restaurant on South Main, I wondered where the stuffed parrots were in the trees. Wouldn't it be nice to see stuffed birds in the garden along with sounds of a tropical rain forest - or the ...

Drive-by Windows
February 27, 2014
Hi, Some of us are wise enough to stay away from the drive-by windows. Others, could not survive in an ice storm without them. There must be a better way to order dinner than yelling back and forth through a speaker system that never works properly. Repeating orders while yelling ...

Is Mr. Lewis having a bad day?
January 28, 2014
http://www.statesboroherald.com/section/1/article/56660/ According to the article printed in today's Herald (1/28/14), Councilman Lewis is blaming some of his troubles on store owners who come from India or Indian heritage. Why would a man who has lived through some of the darkest of times in our society lash out at others in ...

It's a bittersweet Christmas
December 26, 2013
Hi, For many GSU football fans, we are sad to see Coach Monken leave our field of gladiators in favor of coaching another great set of heroes. We wish him well and much success. We were hoping we could see a great match-up at Bobby Dodd stadium against Paul Johnson. ...
