Presidential Debate in Statesboro

Hi,

Lynn University, in Boca Raton Florida, is a school where 2,200 students are enrolled this semester. This was the site for the third Presidential debate. 2,200 is roughly one-tenth of the enrollment at Georgia Southern. Boca Raton has a population nearing 90,000, whereas Bulloch County has a population of about 80,000.

As I was watching the pre-debate coverage on CSPAN, Walkie thought to himself "Why don't we have a 2016 Presidential debate in Statesboro?"

I think it would be a great idea. It would definitely help put our neck of the woods on the map and help Georgia Southern in their quest for national recognition.

One thing that was mentioned in the pre-debate coverage was the T-shirts the student body of Lynn University were selling. The front of the shirt carried the slogan, "We haven't heard about you either." Funny. Many chuckles were heard in the crowd as the President of Lynn University praised his student body.

So, America, what are your thoughts about a Presidential debate here? What would you do to help make this a reality? What would you be willing to give up to make it happen? Why would you be against a debate here? Any ideas on how it should be conducted? Who would you want to moderate it?

In closing, I would like to say "Thank You" to all of the fellow bloggers who have written about the 2012 Presidential campaign. The mud slinging has been way below 2008 levels. We lost many readers and bloggers during the 2008 campaign. It was violent and extremely unsettling. While we have not been completely mud free in 2012, we have offered a great hope for future political seasons. Thanks.

Walkie, Charlie.

I don't think it is a good idea. GSU attracts too many nefarious people already. Do we really need to invite (ugh) politicians running for office?

Tongue in cheek... halfway
