I was so very sorry to hear of Mr. Blitch's health issues. This is a man who has served our community for many years. I sometimes agreed with him, and other times I didn't, but I've always respected him. I certainly do wish Tommy Blitch and his family all the very best and will keep him in my prayers for the very best quality of life as he steps away from his service.

On another note, I'd be interested to hear what the people of Statesboro think about the fact that the council chose not to make his retirement effective immediately?
Thereby allowing the special election to occur during the November election? Putting it off until March?
I'm certain that there is a good chance you won't see Mr. Blitch at any of the September meetings. His health is just not allowing that. So why?
I believe these questions may be somewhat rhetorical.
I don't want to create an issue where there isn't one, but I do want the people of Statesboro to keep their eyes open.

I think after you posted they did make his resignation immediate.

Yes, they did!! I will give a shout out to Travis Chance for standing up for the Blitch family and doing the right thing.
Still very curious about the "effective immediately" which was crossed out on Mr. Blitch's original letter.
We have some work to do in oru city.

Garfield,

It's clear you never attend council meetings if you think Chance and Britt would support the same candidate. It's clear that Britt has his own agenda and equally clear that Chance fights for the people.

One thing is clear, the council needs fresh blood, not just another connected councilman or title-seeking politician.

Where do I even begin to address the condition of our educational system? With all the constant changes being thrown at administrators, teachers, and students, it’s no wonder many of them are frustrated, worn out, and discouraged. Curriculums have been changing year after year, never allowing teachers the opportunity to ...
