Usually, I like to support a candidate. In the PSC race I'm just opposing the incumbents and urging everyone to vote the scoundrels out on their ears. I know nothing about their respective challengers, but I do know they cannot be any worse than the two yahoos who have followed lock-step with Georgia Power and passed along to we consumers costs that have not yet even been incurred,

I don't mind paying fair rates to cover Georgia Power's operating costs and a fair profit for shareholders. But I draw the line at paying for what might be. We have already seen two of three approved rate hikes. The first added $ 14.50 to the average electric bill, the second on April 1st added 1.7 %, and the third increase amount has yet to be determined (by Georgia Power!).

And the PSC has guaranteed Georgia Power an 11.5 % profit. If anyone out there has a suggestion as to where I could make an 11.5% profit, please let me know.

I simply do not believe the current members of the PSC have consumer interests at the forefront. They simply rollover and approve whatever is put before them. I may not get a change but I'm voting for one. I'm voting against the incumbents.

Unfortunately, it looks like both incumbents were handily re-elected, with Bulloch County going pro-incumbent even more strongly than the state as a whole. Makes me think that your sentence "They simply rollover and approve whatever is put before them" doesn't just apply to the PSC!

Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF)

An interesting article regarding the President's war powers under the AUMF passed immediately after 9/11. Twelve years later the situation has changed geographically, as well as the players on the other side. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2013/05/schiff-aumf/

Postal Service Food Drive

I want to ask everyone to please support the Post Office's food pick-up this Saturday. As a long time pantry volunteer, I can attest to the value this program has on operations throughout the year. There are a lot of needy people in our community and many do not or ...

Syria
May 05, 2013
Today, a politician was berating the president about not doing enough in Syria. And as a result (he said), Islamic extremists were pouring into Syria. I thought Bashar Assad and Syria were the virtual definition of extremists with their anti- US and anti - Israeli positions. I guess I've been ...

An informative story, if technical. Bear in mind, the stars might not (probably don't) exist any longer. http://esciencenews.com/articles/2013/04/25/einsteins.gravity.theory.passes.toughest.test.yet

Weapon of Mass Destruction?
April 26, 2013
So, the US attorney is charging the surviving accused Boston bomber under a flimsy WMD statute. I'm sorry but this offends me because it was a pressure cooker bomb and killed three people. What kind of weapon of mass destruction is that? What kind of political ignorance would lead to ...
