wwwhunter,
I agree. We should applaud any individual, group, or organization that takes time to clean up America.
Now, that doesn't mean we shouldn't scrutinize them for other activities or agendas. It just means that when it comes to cleaning this place up, who are we to criticize? Some of the people criticizing are probably guilty of sitting on the couch when they too could be working a roadside.
I would not be opposed to a urban street gang cleaning up the roadside.
Heck, anyway - if you drive by the KKK section of the roadside while they are cleaning it up, at least you will know who not to befriend.
Who should care? I would hope that most citizens would be outraged. Some groups do deserve our censure.
how can trash adopt a highway? lol -- they are just wanting one of those signs that says "this highway adopted by the KKK"
One of the topless restaurants in Florida alongside I-75 outside of Gainesville adopted a stretch of highway some years ago.
I used to try to catch them while they were cleaning up the road but never was successful.
US caring means a long legal fight in which Georgia will lose because Missouri already lost in exactly the same situation. That will only cost us precious taxpayer’s money in an already lost cause. In all likelihood the KKK will get the road to clean up and then not do it and lose it anyway. By fighting it we only play into their hands. But if they did do a good job of keeping it clean then bravo for them.
I agree with you hunter, no need to fight this one in court. I read that the highway they want to adopt is not eligible anyway so I say give um one on the wrong side of the tracks to clean up. Maybe one where they could paint over the Bloods and the Crips graffiti!
