unethical law enforcement

Why is that so many police officers in this town lie and cheat. But we trust them with our lives? It's amazing to me how they enforce the laws of Man but do not follow God's laws<

Whome44,

Why focus on the negative?

I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with the law. I wish you would elaborate further, without mentioning names.

Not all police officers are liars or cheaters.

You sound like a person who should be enrolled in the 4th session of the Citizens Police Academy currently going on at SPD headquarters. It's free and open to the public, provided you can pass a background investigation.

In the academy, you learn that police officers do make mistakes -- as we are all human. However, there are safeguards in place to tackle the corrupt and distinguish them from the honest and good cops. It's like any other business, you hire someone who you think is great and they turn out to be bad.

The 10 weeks I spent in the academy were well worth the two hours per week sacrifice.

I am proud to have the officers of SPD on the streets. I wish we could pay them more.

from experience we do have some crooked police in this town....Walkman I am sure there are good ones but unfortuantly the bad ones can over shadow the good ones. Wish there would be a clean up of our sherrif's department and jail.

If you are aware of crooked police activity, this site is not the appropriate place to air your concerns. Contact the GBI. They are the proper agency to investigate your allegations.

Belief in god is not a requirement for being in law enforcement. A non-religious police officer can do his/her job just as well as a religious police officer. One doesn't have to have a belief in a god to enforce the Federal, State, and local laws. I've never heard of a police officer arrest someone or write someone a ticket and use a holy book as reference to why they made that arrest or wrote that ticket in court.
