Take Me To Post Comment Form

Hi,

The news is just breaking over the wire and I had to comment...

James Cameron, Filmmaker of hits like "Titanic" and "Avatar", has reached "Challenger Deep" during a solo mission in a specially designed submarine. Challenger Deep is nearly 36,000 feet below sea level, or probably the deepest point in the ocean. Just to give you a comparative point of reference, Mt. Everest is around 29,000 feet high.

The original plan for the mission was to spend 6 hours underwater, but later reports said he had to return in 3 hours due to a hydraulic fluid leak.

Only two other people (One American, One Swiss) have made it down that far - back in 1960. Cameron's trip was the first solo trip to be made.

Congratulations James. Thank you to everyone on your team and financial supporters for your contributions to science and technology. Your accomplishment today proves the United States of America and the human race continues to achieve great deeds.

It is a good day today!

Great accomplishment indeed, though I thought that the United States of America was still part of the human race?

Passinthru,

It's just a phrase inspired by Neil Armstrong's words as he stepped on the moon for the first time.

"One small step..."
