Hi,

It has not happened since 1929, but a silent film has won an academy award for best picture this year. "The Artist".

I'm glad it happened.

What will become of it remains to be seen. I guess George Lucas will re-release Star Wars: The Silent Edition after he finishes releasing all six movies in 3-D. Maybe Hollywood will release silent 3-D films in order to ride the bandwagon.

I can't recall if this movie was ever shown locally or not. If you have seen it, I would like to know your thoughts.

A silent political debate might be just the ticket. If people read some of the inanities uttered by the current crop of candidates or talking heads on TV, they might not be so easily swayed by cheap histrionics.

Walkie, You might enjoy The Naked Prey, a silent adventure film starring Cornell Wilde shot in the 1960's.

Fly,

Thanks for the suggestion. I will put it on my list of things to watch.

I did read today that the movie "The Artist" will be released to a thousand more theaters this weekend so that others may see it. It is very rare I visit the silver screen, but this one may warrant a visit.
