Herald Advertising Billboard

Take Me To Post Comment Form

It is hardly worth plodding through all the commercials looking for a local blog anymore as this site has become little more than an advertisement billboard.

I would like to suggest to the Herald that it apply its rule about advertising, or, if not, at least be honest and rename this section “Ads from the U - With an Occasional Blog.”

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Some just try to get a free ride by posting "ad blogs." I notice there are ads on this site. I thought this area was supposed to be commercial free. Hope they don't stop letting the rest of us blog because of this.

I just clicked on a few of these CALVERT posts and they look like Spam blogs to me. Not from round here for sure. Maybe the webmaster can filter these out somehow?

Me thinks I'll report these ad spam blogs, if I see them, as "inappropriate content" and see if the herald folks will take it down.

I've brought a couple of obvious advertising blogs as inappropriate contact and the Herald staff has promptly taken them down. I would rather they be taken down after the fact of posting than run the risk of legitimate blogs being blocked by some arbitrary "rule" which directs the server to look for a particular term or terms.

Well I have reported some of this GSU advertising blogs but they stayed up. Maybe GSU is paying for the privilge of putting up ad blogs.

Bryant, I get your point about the possibility of inadvertent blocking, though the serial advertisers are pretty obvious, and, as the Herald states “We will delete comments and media that could be considered as: advertising” so there must be a mechanism in place to do so.

Not sure I agree with the logic that an offence should be allowed to take place before it can be prevented, though.

Watchpig, I have had the same experience as you, no reaction after twice reporting obvious advertising to the Herald. Makes you wonder if there is anyone home.

I with you guys, I'm sick of all the ad blogs but you know I can't control what the Herald does.
